Joseph, the Model 1865 Spencer Carbine was manufactured from 1865 thru 1866. They were serial numbered from 1 to 23000 with additional markings at the Breech of barrel M-1865. This leads me to believe your Spencer was made in 1865.
Is there any records of what serial numbers were issued to what location?
Also the serial # on my carbine does not appear on the top of the receiver, but is on the underside of the barrel under neath the forearm wood. It was made in 1864.
I have a Spencer carbine M1865, serial # 15589 that I was given from a family member. Any information on this would be a great help.
Sir, I have a 1865 Spencer Carbine Serial # 3820, can you tell me when it was made, and any other info you may have on this carbine. Best Regards, Joe
